Family Challenge Experience
(Fall 2010 Adventure Based Counseling Multi-family Group)
- an active approach that combines the effective practices of group therapy, family
therapy and Adventure Based Counseling in a unique type of family service.
- using cooperative group games, problem-solving challenges, expressive
arts activities and process discussions, family members concretely observe
and experience their interactions as a whole, what their feelings, thoughts,
behaviors and relationships are as well as the interrelationship between them all.
- created for families with participating children 10-15 years of age
- for families that are motivated to learn about and make improvements in their
interactions
- parent/s with basic skills for managing children
- for families who voluntarily agree to be an active part of the program
- families must commit to a one 2 hour session each week for 8 consecutive weeks,
AND one full weekend day between
weeks 6 and 7
Girls on the Rise
(Fall 2010 Adventure Based Counseling Girls Group)

a group that supports bringing girls together to reinforce their strengths as well as
help to extend and integrate their other therapeutic work
- an Adventure Based Counseling group for teen girls wanting to learn, grow and
survive adolescence.

Girls on the Rise will incorporate hiking – beginning with shorter day-hikes, and
working up to climbing a mountain peak. Hiking will be both a tool and theme of
the group.
- an eight-week educational and therapeutic group for girls dealing with the
challenges of being a teen girl who would benefit from developing their strengths
and health through group therapy
- participants must be able to commit to a one and a half hour session each week for 8 consecutive weeks and one full day weekend day.

We did not change as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves.
