What is Adventure Based Counseling (ABC) ?
- an experiential approach to group and family counseling using an activity base
- different levels of physical and psychological risk
- intended to experience and process through metaphors and meanings (how the experience of the activity applies to a situation or person)
- expressed verbally, nonverbally, unconsciously and somatically (in the body)
- can significantly contribute to the transfer to life beyond the group experience and lead to desired changes.
- ABC groups use a carefully sequenced and processed series of experiential activities over eight weeks.
- ABC is highly engaging, enhancing your own strengths, and able to integrate and make sense of your experiences in a healthy way.
ABC groups will be available on a year round basis, using different activities
ranging from indoor group games, ropes courses, outdoors activities such as
hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, rock climbing or wilderness
expeditions.
Groups will be created and personalized for specific age and gender groups,
including all girls, adolescent, family, women’s, and couples’ groups. Please
sign up for one of the upcoming groups or send us your ideas for a future group!

What is the Nurtured Heart Approach?
We did not change as we grew older; we just became more clearly ourselves.
